Interview with DJ Choz!

Charisma: When did you realize you had a passion for music?

DJ Choz: My dad is a legendary raggae producer who brought acts like Shabbat Ranks and Barrington Levy, he actually made the original song Shyne sampled in "Bad Boys", as well as "Bonnie and Shyne" so I've been in the studio my whole life. My play pen was in the corner or a studio, I guess it's a part of me.

Charisma: How long have you been a dj?

DJ Choz: Going on six years.

Charisma: How did you meet and become a dj for Gunplay?

DJ Choz: Via twitter! He has a dj coalition and at the time I needed a backing. I asked if I could join, he was with it then he needed a dj to tour with him and he called me and we been rocking ever since.

Charisma: Do you dj for another artist besides Gunplay?

DJ Choz: Gunplay is the main artist I dj for but I've done shows with Big Krit and Joe Cool.

Charisma: What advice do you have for any young man trying to accomplish his dreams?

DJ Choz: Figure out if you want to be in this for the right reasons because you can waste a lot of time and money bs'ing and stay dedicated.

You can follow him on twitter at @djchoz

The Wonder World of Shopping!

It’s pretty interesting how fashion builds itself across the world! Fashion is nothing more than an expression of unlimited creativity. Learning about regional fashion can be extremely fun once you’re physically able to see how individuals from different areas of the world express themselves through clothing and accessories. On the west coast in Las Vegas, Nevada there’s a popular mall on the strip which is called fashion show mall. Fashion show mall has a series of great stores to purchase great items. The TopShop (as mentioned in previous article) has an outstanding collection of looks! Being a secret shopper is harder than it sounds but once you become so drawn into the different clothing styles, materials and textures the job becomes much easier. According to the season items that are currently in the TopShop, it’s confirmed that it’s definitely going to be a fashionable autumn. A lot of the pieces in the TopShop are inspired by the classic glamour look. Some of the dresses are collared knee length styled that resemble the late great Audrey Hepburn in the iconic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s and other items consist of quarter length cotton coats that you may have seen similar on the fashion runways in the 1960’s. The fashionable store also offers a variety of pants as well. You can find plain jeans or print jeans. Most of the pants are skinny leg simply because that specific pants style fits better with boots and compliments a heel, wedge, or flat. Accessories range from a wide selection of hats, scarves, glasses, rings, clutches earrings, necklaces and yes, even shoes! As of now the TopShop is decorated to match the seasons setting, just like any other professional store would. During your experience at the TopShop not only are you going to feel the warmth of the glitz and glamour vibe, you’re going to love it as well! One of the great advantages about shopping at the TopShop happens to be students can receive up to ten percent off of their purchases all year round as long as they present their school identification cards upon check-out. This deal applies to any student (high school or college). Location does not matter which means you don’t have to be a resident of the state you’re shopping in when you present your identification card. On the other hand, if you’re not too fashion friendly it’s perfectly fine! TopShop offers personal shopping with the help of the employees. Receiving a TopShop personal shopper is an extremely simple process. All you have to do is set up an appointment to go visit the store and tell the selected employee what you’re looking for whether it’s specifically for an event or you can provide them with an idea of your overall style so they can set up a personal wardrobe re-creation for you. If you’re interested in stocking up for the spring and summer of 2013, now is the time to start. The store also has a series of clearance racks full of out of season clothing and accessories. Why not get a head start?

Julissa: Doing well! How's it going?

Charisma: Everything is great! Thank you so much for taking time out your day to do the interview! ;)

Julissa: Totally my pleasure! These things are so fun (laughs)!

Charisma: Yesssss! Extremely fun lol ok lets get started. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

Julissa: Ms. Jennifer Lopez is one hell-of-a woman. Talented, driven, goofy,& such a joy! Quadruple Threat. She's underrated.

Charisma:  J.Lo is everything! I was just watching Enough the other night. She's amazing!

Julissa: She kicks major butt in that movie lol!

Charisma: When did realize you had a passion for music?

Julissa: Music's always been a family thing for me. My Dad was always playing guitar when I was little. I was hypnotized by it. Doing musical theatre was when I realized that this whole "music" thing might be something I'd be into too.

Charisma: My grandpa plays the guitar also. Beautiful music! When you're not busy working what do you like to do in your spare time?

Julissa: I do a lot of nature walks, coffee crawls, & bike rides. Netflix too. Love me some Netflix.

Charisma: (Laughs) We might be long lost sisters. I have netflix on my phone, cpu and ipad. I'm addicted! lol

Charisma: Where is your favorite place to travel?

Julissa: Home (Orlando) actually. But I'll take a trip to New York anytime. No hesitation. It's my little heaven.

Charisma: I love Orlando! I'm still a kid a heart Disney World is my spot lol.

Charisma: What can the world expect next from Julissa?

Julissa: More. Just more. I do a lot in so many areas of art that I think this year my focus is really on application. I'm freeing myself so that I can offer up what I have to others. It'll be like a great big sharing experience. I'm excited.

Charisma: I'm so excited for you! Keep pushing towards your dreams! Your on the right path! Keep your faith and positive mindset ;-)

Charisma: Do you have a celebrity crush? If so who? lol

Julissa: I have a serious girl crush on Eva Mendes. But my crush at the moment would be Dave Franco. He's a cutie.

Charisma: Eva is extremely pretty! Never heard of Dave Franco but i'll take your word lol.

Julissa: James Franco's little brother. He was in 21 Jump Street. Google him lol.

Charisma: Ohhhh just looked up him....he is FINE! LOL

Charisma: Ok last question. What do you want to say to your fans and everyone chasing their dreams?

Julissa: YOU are the most important person in the world. Remove all the things that you are not. That you do/say/believe just for acceptance. LIVE!

Charisma:  Thank you so much to the beautful Julissa for the interview! Much success to you.

Julissa: Thank you darling for the opportunity! Stay shining.

Landing Your Dream Job!

Today I attended a school seminar. Usually when you hear about a seminar you think of learning about boring information that will go in one ear and out the other.
 THIS WAS NOTHING LIKE THAT!!!
This particular seminar was extremely interesting. The title of the seminar;
"Why Didn't I Get Hired?"
speaks for itself.
True enough it can be rather discouraging going on interview after interview and still remain unemployed. Here in this blog post I'm going to provide you with some great tips to land your next job, let alone a job that you love.

  • SOCIAL MEDIA
Sure social media sites like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook are extremly popular and exciting to browse but having these specific sites can cause a lot of trouble as well. People often think when their not called back by a hiring managers after a interview it's because the company "decided to go with another candidate that best fit the description." Actually, in some cases that's absolutely true! That candidate is a person that knows how to represent not only themselves, but the company in a respectful manner. The real reason you aren't getting calls back after interviews links back to the information that you're posting on the internet. If you're looking to start a career, posting pictures of you smoking, drinking and partying at clubs with your friends on social media sites isn't the best route. Most people say "It's my twitter, It's my instagram, It's my facebook so I'll post what I want" *pause* Well that's fine but you'll also continue to be unemployed. It's nothing wrong with having fun and snapping photographs while in the process, but insert those pictures in a personal photo album at home NOT on the internet. However, you can learn to turn your negatives to positives. Just as much as social media sites can hurt you they can help you. Social media sites can help you build and establish your brand and network. Be smart when using the internet!

EXPERIENCE
Stop being lazy! Get out and start meeting new people. Employers love to hire active individuals. Make sure your resume isn't dull. Apply for internships and join student clubs and organizations at your college. Take internship offers, PAID or NOT! The experience will prepare you for the job that you plan to have. One thing you must remember...
EVERY INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY WILL NOT BE PAID!
Start volunteering. Employers love hiring individuals that offer their time volunteering for companies. Volunteer work let's the hiring manager know where your heart is and if you're willing to go over and above while working for their company.
COMMUNICATION
It's very important to speak clearly while on a interview.
ABSOLUTELY NO SLANG!
You're not talking to your family and friends, this is your FUTURE employer.
MAKE EYE CONTACT!
Eye contact is a sign of confidence.
Use your manners; CONSTANT please and thank you's.
APPEARANCE
DRESS TO IMPRESS!
Make sure your clothes are IRONED!
Even if you'e applying to a company that can wear jeans to work,
NEVER WEAR JEANS ON A INTERVIEW!

Be care about what you wear when you pick up employment applications. You don't want to ask for an apllication in pajama pants, tight pants or sagging pants because without knowing, you could be asking the MANAGER for an application.
If you have any tattoos and/or piercings make sure they're COVERED
Employers won't take you serious with tattoos running down your arms and piercings popping out your face.
YOUR WORD
All you have in this world is your word.
Companies are looking for LOYALTY and CONSISTENCY
Business leaders aren't looking to hire individuals that take multiple days off work and decide to quit when the going gets tough.

Sparkle Obession!

Real fashion experts know that fashion is just a recycled trend waiting to be brought back to life, but next time with more character and creativity. Alot of the fashion styles from the fourties, fifties, sixties, and even seventies are coming right back around. At the end of last year, the film re-make of Sparkle, was shot here in Detroit, Michigan. The film was released last weekend and the costumes used in the film were absolutely breathtaking! The funny thing about the clothing, happens to be that they were trying to find clothing that would have the soul and sixties look but what they actually created was inspiration for the real fashion lovers. Unfortunatley, those specific looks aren't offered in stores anymore due to the fact that some retail stores might consider the looks "Outdated" However, they're not outdated the correct term for the clothing would be "Timeless or Classic". If you are interested in the timeless look but can't find them anywhere your best bet is to ask family memebers or even neighbors who were around in those times to hand down some of the classic pieces down that they no longer use.

The film was absolutely amazing! The casting directors managed to bring together great people to relive the iconic picture. All the actors/actresses SHINED! I loved how the storyline was adjusted as well. I really thought the film was going to be a repeat of the original but in my opinion it wasn't even a re-make of the film because
I FELT AS IF IT WAS A CHAPTER TWO!
The music was great! One minute I was jamming to the popular motown hits like "Special Occasion" by Smokey Robinson then taken away by Carmen Ejogo's version of "Hooked On Your Love" which I absolutely adored and tear jerked by Jordin Sparks "One Wing".
I know that Carmen Ejogo has been acting for years but this was definitely her big break. Carmen "Sister" was my favorite character in the film. She OWNED her role. I've already seen the movie two times, definitely obsessed. I give the film an easy A+!!!!

Nail Creativity!

Fashion is alive in so many forms. Who ever thought nail creativity could be one of them? Nail creativity is now more popular than ever. A lot of young ladies and even women go to the extreme when it comes to nail creativity for one simple reason... "No two women want to be alike". You're probably thinking, How could you be categorized as the same, just based off of something as simple as nail polish?" EASY! Don't get me wrong, every woman loves a soft simple manicure but every now and then it's ok to switch up your style ESPECIALLY during the Summer season. Pink and Whites are nice...(If your a bride)...but no married woman jumps the broom everyday. Soft colors are nice sometimes, but what's the point of paying to get a nail color that you can barely see? I must admit that's rather boring. Now ladies, I know your pain. I'm guilty! I use to be a plain jane when it came to nails until I was introduced to COLOR! New nail colors and designs changed my creative thinking process in more ways than you can begin to imagine. Now, when I visit the nail salon for a manicure and pedicure it's completely impossible for me to get something that doesn't pop. First, you want to start off with a simple extemely bright color or depressing dark color. Yes, depressing dark color! You should choose those two type of colors because, both of the colors attract attention because of the dramatic effect. After wearing only those two colors for a while you might become bored and want to step out of the safe zone. That was the moment I feel in love with crackle nail polish. Honestly, crackle is the best nail creation on Earth. The fun thing about the crackle nail polish happens to be, you can use crackle over a complimenting fun color or over a color that completely clashes and they both still look perfect together. The crackle and base color look amazing but you still might feel there was still something missing. GLITTER! Everyone has their own nail opinion but I believe, if you crackle you middle fingers and your pinkys, glitter your ring fingers and top coat your index and thumb you will have million dollar nails that cause people to say two things, "OMG Where do you get your nails done? and Aww, Your nails are so pretty" Trust me, it works every time! A lot of ladies are probably thinking "Yeah, that sounds cute but I still don't know" well, that's absolutely fine. Everything is a process. However if you aren't going to try something funky and wild, you should really consider trying shellac. Shellac is a polish base that substitutes for acryllic so you don't have to ruin your nails during the process. You can find shellac in almost any color and it doesn't chip. Unlike the normal acryllic and gel process, shellac lasts for usually three weeks. Which means you don't have to run to the nail salon every other week for a fill-in! I hope these exciting nail tips encourage you ladies to go out and try something fun :)

Quick Hair Tips

Every woman loves for her hair to look flawless!
I must admit as a woman, weaves can be very addictive. I mean who doesn't love a natural looking weave?
After a long period of time weave can become your WORST ENEMY....
Most people aren't aware of PERMANENT SCALP DAMAGE!!!
Permanent scalp damage can occur from....
SEW-IN'S, COLORS/BLEACHING, BRAIDS, GLUE IN'S, RELAXERS AND ETC.

You know that saying "Too much of something isn't good for you?" It's true.
Chemical scalp damage i.e (Relaxers and Color) May never fully heal dependin on how bad of the reaction.
After wearing the same styles for so long you should start to think about other options for your hair.
Im not saying completely X out your weave but try to compromise.
EXAMPLE...
If your going to wear a sew-in for a couple weeks thats fine but once you take it out, make sure you go to a great beautician who knows alot about promoting healthy hair so he/she could provide a long line of hair care treatments to keep your hair looking strong, lively and healthy.

SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS

Seborrheic dermatitis is a papulosquamous disorder patterned on the sebum-rich areas of the scalp, face, and trunk. In addition to sebum, this dermatitis is linked to Malassezia, immunologic abnormalities, and activation of complement. It is commonly aggravated by changes in humidity, changes in seasons, trauma or emotional stress. The severity varies from mild dandruff to exfoliative erythroderma.
-(Via MedScape Online Article)

Seborrheic is VERY COMMON in small children. Seborrheic can also come from lack of frequent shamooping. You should always try to shampoo at least once a week. Cleaning your combs, brushes, and blow dryer combs are VERY IMPORTANT. Sand your pressing combs to clean them as well.

Ladies, I know some of you are not into semi-oily hair but honestly, which would you rather have oily hair or NO hair?

Some great hair oils are listed as followed:
  • Morrocan Oil
  • Tea Tree Oil
  • Carrot Oil
  • Coconut Oil
  • Argan Oil

I hope some of these quick hair tips helped you out ;)

Simple Beauty Tips

Going to the spa and having extravagant facials and skin treatments are extrmely nice but in REALITY......
EVERYONE CAN'T AFFORD THOSE LUXURIOUS TREATMENTS.
Believe it or not

Most of the services you receive at the spa can be performed in the comfort of your own home.
You can pick up some of the great products at your local drug store, pharamacy, target, walmart, the dermatologist and etc.
Some of the best products are CHEAP and cost all of nothing. For an example:
BLACK SOAP!!!
Black soap is a great cleanser for the skin. It softens the face and body. It doesn't dry out the skin and softens your complexion.
EXFOLIATE!!!
Exfoliation is great for the skin. It removes all of the dead skin and leaves you with soft, smooth and great looking skin. It is very important that you don't OVER-EXFOLIATE. Over-exfoliating can cause skin irritation i.e Rashes and can also dry out the skin. When exfoliating, people often use loofahs. I use to use a loofah in the past but, I grew to realize that it leaving a skin rash. Now when I exfoliate I use shower gloves. Shower gloves work very well on the body. It's leaves your body very soft and clean. You will definitely be impressed by the results.
SCRUB!!!
Face scrubs/mask are amazing. I have a great scrub from Costa Rica. I use the scrub twice a week. Once at the beginning of the week and once at the end. It's VERY important to not get carried away when using a scrub. FACE SCRUBS CAN NOT BE USED EVERYDAY!!!!! Using a face scrub can cause you to ruin your face. You can burn or irritate the small which can feel very uncomfortable.
CUCUMBERS!!!
The sweet old cucumber trick has been around for years. Slice a couple slices of cucumbers and leave them stored away in the freezer and pull them out whenever you decided to give yourself a facial or even just use them on a rainy day. Cucumbers are great for removing dark circles/bags from around your eyes and it always pulls the skin together and helps it remain firm.
VITAMINS!!!
People dont believe it but, not only does vitamins play a MAJOR role and being healthy but it keeps you looking and feeling young. Don't believe it? Try it yourself.
FRUITS & VEGETABLES!!!
Eat PLENTY of fruits and vegetables. Try to focus on veggies like i.e asparagus that cleanses the blood, carrots for eyesight and all the other important veggies. Great fruits like pomegranates and blueberries are great natural fuits with antioxidants. Most people dont know pineapples are a great for weight loss! All fruits and vegetables are great for you.

Fitness

fit·ness/ˈfitnis/Noun:
1.The condition of being physically fit and healthy.
2.The quality of being suitable to fulfill a particular role or task.

Everyone wants to be HEALTHY and in SHAPE
But is everyone ready for the COMMITMENT?????
STEP ONE: DISCIPLINE YOURSELF
Fitness and Dieting is honestly a love/hate relationship because you hate to do those tiring excercises but you love the results of your body in the end.
When I say "DISCIPLINE" yourself, I'm not asking you to starve yourself. I'm asking you to take ownership of your actions.
We all love a juicy cheeseburger, chilli cheese fries, fried chicken and etc. but we also know that were only putting our health at risk.
Why would we constantly do that to ourselves?
When starting your dieting/fitness plan it's perfectly normal to not be able to just give your daily obsessions up in just one try. It's a working process.
TRY PORTIONING!
Portioning helps me out a lot because it's like a 50/50 deal.
For example; When im craving something salty, I'll buy a bag of plain potatoe chips but I WON'T eat the whole bag in one day. I'll portion it. When portioning my chips, I'll take out maybe seven or eight chips and save the rest for the next day. It's similar to a compromise, except it's a self-compromise.

EXCERCISING IS VERY IMPORTANT!

It's very important to keep your body active. Even if you're not ableto do fifty sit-ups, crunches, push up's or etc. It's imperative to take part in some form of fitness work, even if it is just jogging around your neighborhood, walking in the park or even sprinting around the track. Even if you can't get into the whole excercise subject, just grab your ipod/mp3 players and dance to your favorite tunes until you get tired. Believe it or not it's a very fun activity. When doing this activity you should aim for fast songs. When dancing around, my favorite songs to get loose to are "Alright" by Janet Jackson, "Gimme That" by Ciara, "Run The World (Girls)" by Beyonce and many more. You would'nt believe how many calories you burn by doing this small excercise. TRY IT!

If you're ready for a more intense excercise, you should try yoga and/or pilates. Pilates are not as easy as they seem, TRUST ME! I took a pilates class and it was very intense. I was very sore after class but, I ADORED the results. My body felt amazing!

ENCOURAGEMENT...
A lot of us aren't as confident unless we have that little whisper of encouragement. If you have a short attentio spand and give up easily especially when it comes to excercising I highly encourage you to hire a personal trainer or get a workout partner.

No matter how you choose to get your daily dose of excercise, REMEMBER to always make it FUN!

World Topics

Why does everyone feel that gay marrige is such a bad thing?
I feel that everyone should be entitled to a happy life and if that's what's making them happy, so be it.
I honestly don't understand why is such a big deal for gay men and lesbian women to get married?
I mean they're already dating, having sex and doing things every other couple does, so if their in love, why not become one?
Us straight people get married, DON'T WE?
Yes, I'm a firm believer in GOD and I know what the bible says about same sex relationships...
BUT I ALSO KNOW THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD AND IT'S NOT MY PLACE TO JUDGE..
Or anyone else's.
I have a cousin that's gay and I love him to death regardless if he was gay, straight or undecided.
In my opinion, the sad part about the gay marriage controversy is that, people are judging these
HUMAN BEINGS
Simply off of "how" and "who" they want to spend their lives with.
What a lot of people dont understand is,
IF IT DOESN'T CONCERN YOU, WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH?
Let these people live their lives, They're ONLY human.

Before Me, Before You, Before Us...

Different Images - Self Esteem.

Why should every OPINION matter?
It shouldn't but sadly it happens....
Children, Teens and even Adults battle with low self esteem....EVERYDAY!!!
Low self-esteem can form from many subjects. Several individuals delevop low self-esteem from:
  •  Being bullied in school.
  • Not being comfortable with their physical appearances ( for an example; weight, height, size of nose, ears, lips, acne, speech impediments, disabilities, clothing and etc).
  • Ending of personal/dating relationships.
  • Some children have self-esteem issues when they're adopted as well because, they feel as if no one wants them and they have been abandoned.
  • Some people automatically have self-esteem issues when they're not recognized by the ones they love i.e ( Parents, Friends, Spouse).
  • Simple lack of confidence.
Self-esteem issues have ended or almost ended in terrible ways. A lot of low-esteem victims have resulted in taking their own lives or even attempting to.

Many people in the world battle with self-esteem issues, they're just better at hidhing it than others.

Some of the people that seem the happiest and always brag amongst their looks are the most unhappy people but they know how to cover their emotions up by false "Conceit".

It's VERY important to respect others and be nice to everyone. You never know what someone else is going through and a simple smile, compliment or invite could change their whole attitude.

When I think about the subject of low self-esteem, I begin to think of the Video lyrics by India Aire because the words are pure and the meaning is incredible. The song is great because it let's you know that it's ok to be yourself, regardless of what anyone else seems to think. What a lot of individuals living with low self-esteem don't realize is life would be horrible with duplicate people, that's why it's only ONE you!

"I’m not the average girl from your video
And I ain’t built like a supermodel
But I learned to love myself unconditionally because I am a queen...
I not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
When I look in the mirror and the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it’s suppose to be
And I know my creator didn’t make no mistakes on me
My feet, my thighs, My Lips, My eyes, I’m loving what I see
Now don’t be offended this is all my opinion
Ain’t nothing that I’m saying law
This is a true confession
Of a life learned lesson
I was sent here to share with y'all
So get in when you fit in
Go on and shine, Clear your mind, Now’s the time
Put your salt on the shelf, Go on and love yourself
Cause everything’s gonna be alright."
Song Lyrics By - India Aire (Video)

SO REMEMBER:
No one is better at being you than YOU!

Color Blocking!

FASHION TRENDS ARE CREATED EVERYDAY!
Fashion does'nt consist of any rules, because it's your own personal expression. However, if fashion did have rules, I would have to say the main one should be "NEVER BE TO MATCHY, MATCHY". One of the latest and most noticed trends are color blocking. Color blocking happens to be very popular on the runway as well. In my opinion, color blocking is a all year round trend. During the Spring season, you should color block with very light pastel colors. During the Fall, it's a great idea to color block with various shades of browns and dark colors. Of course in the Summer, you would color block with unlimited shades of bright colors or even patterns. Lastly, in the Winter season, you should color block with soft nude colors. It's even a great idea to color blocking with your footwear. The best thing about color blocking happens to be, you can make a color blocking a long drawn out process while getting dressed or you can even make it really quick by just throwing on a bunch of random colors and still look fashionable while you wear the creative outfit!
