Charisma Covers The 2014 Be Bold Fashion Show!

Yesterday I was given the opportunity to cover the 2014 Be Bold Fashion Show hosted by Chigozie Uwazurike. Chigozie is one the three members that created YPVL which stands for Young Productive Vintage Life. The amazing event took place in Detroit, Michigan at the White House Night Club.

Charisma: What inspired YPVL?

 

Chi: Well, actually YPVL was created by myself and two other members however, I'm the CEO. YPVL is more than a clothing line, it's a lifestyle. We're all so big on being positive and doing positive things. Hustling the right way!

 

Charisma: When did you launch YPVL?

 

Chi: It's been three years. We launched YPVL on August 25th, 2011.

 

Charisma: If you could design a piece of clothing for any celebrity who would you choose and why?

Chi: Diddy! Hands down, I'm his biggest fan. Diddy inspires me as a business man because, he backs up everything he says. I also would love to create something for Diddy because, he believes in potential. Whenever he sees something great he's willing to work with it. I also know Diddy, wouldn't want me to work for free.

 

Charisma: What was your favorite moment about the fashion show last night?

 

Chi: I really didn't have a favorite. I loved every moment! I loved seeing Jay Lee preform. Also, one of the designers weren't able to make it last night, so being able to fill in for him and taking control of someone elses clothing line was nice.

 

Charisma: Where can customers purchase YPVL?

Charisma: If up and coming fashion designers want to be featured in your future shows how can they inquire?

Charisma: What can the world expect next from YPVL?

 

Chi: Everyone can expect The Plug pt.2, it's a networking event. We had The Plug pt. 1 two months ago. Also, I'll be doing my second annual toy drive with Hot 107.5! Last year, we donated over six hundred toys. I'm really passionate about charity work because, it's no point of making moves if you're not giving back!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Breaking Unwanted Soul Ties and Reclaiming Your Energy!

Soul Ties Blog:

We don't need a rocket scientist to inform us that all energy isn't good energy! Have you ever took a minute to ask yourself how or why your life took a drastic change, and not in a good way?
Thinking to yourself: 
1) Why am I always the one with a negative mindset or comments?
2) I try my best to be positive but somehow I always end up depressed?
3) Why am I losing friends?
4) Why do I feel so unmotivated and extremely lazy?
5) And etc.

To those of you that are reading this blog entry right now and you're sexually active, it's a possibility that you're feeling those particular feelings because you're not working off of your own energy. Instead you're feeding off of someone else's! Once you begin to have multiple sex partners it's easy to begin to lose yourself. SOUL TIES ARE REAL PEOPLE!

As we all know sex is actually meant for the married. However, as humans we tend to engage way before not actually knowing the consequences that would be placed upon us. If you're going to have sex make sure it's with someone that you love and you're one hundred percent sure they're going to have your best interest. Many people are quick to say "He's a guy! He just wants your goods and then he'll be off to the next." Well, that's not always true. Some guys are like that but NOT ALL OF THEM. Truth be told, you'll be surprised how many women have that same exact mindset when it comes to sex. Some women get the same thrill as men, not all of them but there are some out there. 

There are no trial runs through life. Everything is either a dribble or shoot move and you must be prepared to live with your decisions after they're made. 

Once the damage is done, it's all a life experience but it's okay to reclaim yourself and your energy! GOD loves you and he knows you're only human and you're going to fail him at some point or another. Step up to the plate and ask GOD for forgiveness! Ask him to renew you and your spirit! ASK HIM TO BLESS YOUR SOUL!

Interview With Dej Loaf!

Today I had the opportunity to speak with the one and only, Dej Loaf. True enough she's from Detroit but she had more than just our city buzzing with her hit single, "Try Me"! Check out the interview below:

Charisma: What inspired you to pursue your music career?

 

Dej Loaf: I've always loved to write. I've been writing since I was like nine or ten years old. I use to write to other peoples beat then I eventually started writing my own.

 

Charisma: Who is your favorite artist or who would you really love to work with?

 

Dej Loaf: I don't really have one but I would have to say Jay-Z, Charlie Wilson and/or Anita Baker.

 

Charisma: What was your reaction when you realized a lot of celebrities and fans loved your music?

 

Dej Loaf: I'm really humble so it was very shocking. I'm a very busy person so everyday something new is happening but I'm grateful.

 

Charisma: What do you like to do in your spare time?

 

Dej Loaf: I really like going to the movies and hanging with my friends.

 

Charisma: What can the world expect next from Dej Loaf?

 

Dej Loaf: Greatness and dropping new music.

 

Charisma: What advice do you have for young girls/women trying to accomplish their dreams?

 

Dej Loaf: Don't give up! I know it's hard but there's always light at the end of the tunnel. Stay dedicated to the dream!

Interview with Mrs. Gina Prince-Bythewood!

It's not everyday that you get a chance to chit chat with a writer. Especially, the writer that wrote hit movies such as Love&Basketball, The Secret Life of Bees and Beyond The Lights. Well, I've been chasing this specific interview for almost a year now and I finally got it! Check out the interview below featuring the talented, Mrs. Gina Prince-Bythewood.

Charisma: How long have you been writing?

GPB: I've been writing all of my life. I've been writing short stories forever. My parents saved one that I'd written was I was nine years old. It was called "The Very Clever Turkey". It was about a turkey who pretended to be a pig on Thanksgiving to protect himself from getting killed for dinner.

Charisma: If you got a chance to collaborate with any writer, who would you choose and why?

GPB: Honestly, no one except for my husband, Reggie. He's a writer as well. Writing is very personal for me. I am telling a story from my head and it would be difficult to share that process but, Reggie and I help each other a tremendous amount. We help provide each other with inspiration and blunt honesty.

Charisma: What advice do you have for upcoming writers?

GPB: It's important to write what moves you, love what you do, be passionate, do research and write, write and write. Never be satisfied! Beyond The Lights took four years and fifty-five drafts and during that time there were a tremendous amount of "No's". Being passionate about the story helped me overcome those no's by fueling my fight.

Charisma: Would you ever consider writing television shows?

GPB: I've done television before. I started on A Different World, which was one of my favorite shows. I also wrote for a show called South Central which starred Larenz Tate and the series Felicity. I sold Love&Basketball while working on Felicity. I wouldn't mind going back to TV if it was cable, but nothing compares to seeing your work in a movie theater.

Charisma: What was the inspiration behind Beyond The Lights?

GPB: I wanted to write a love story and a music film. I attended Alicia Keys concert and while she was singing "Diary", the story character Noni came into my head. From there, I started fleshing out the story and incorporating things from my personal life that I wanted to explore, such things as being adopted and tracking down my birth mother and it not going well. All of that relates to the movie in some way. Example; Noni's mother had her at an early age and was abandoned. Se realized her only escape was through her daughters talent. But putting so much of your own self-worth into your child can be damaging and in this case, almost deadly.

Interview W/ KC Clark!

Yesterday I got a chance to chit chat with Detroit's very own, KC Clark! You may also know KC as the extremely funny, Versatilenstyle on instagram. Check out the interview below: 

Charisma: When did you realize you had a passion for comedy?

KC: Actually, it came out of no where! I'm a really silly guy but I never intended on making videos or making people laugh. What most people don't know is, I actually want to be a actor.

Charisma: How long have you been dancing?

KC: I'm been dancing my whole life! I've danced from three years old until high school. I also really enjoy freestyle dancing. Dancing really makes me happy and it also helps me stay connected with my mom. She use to dance as well.

Charisma: What advice do you have for young teens/young men trying to accomplish their dreams?

KC: My advice is to believe in yourself and your dream. No one will believe in you if you don't even believe in yourself. Lastly, Don't give up!

Charisma: Who is your favorite dancer?

KC: I don't know if you ever heard of this show called, FAME, but I really like the character Re-Run. He mostly did modern and jazz. However, I also really like, Shawn Bankhead. He's a choreographer out of Atlanta. 

Charisma: What do you like to do in your spare time?

KC: I'm very active so I love working out but for the most part I love hanging with my friends and family.

Charisma: Okay, last question. Do you have a celebrity crush? If so, who?

KC: I really like T.I's daughter, Zonnique. She's so pretty! She seems so cool and laid back!

Interview W/ BBWLA Star: Sundy Carter!

On February 20th, 2014, I had the opportunity to interview the lovely actress and Basketball Wives LA star Sundy Carter! I know you're probably thinking, "Dang, she looks familiar. Didn't she play in State Property?" Well, the answer is yes! She played Aisha, which happpened to be Beans girlfriend. So me being the silly girl that I am, I had to ask Sundy was that her real voice in the movie and of course it wasn't. She said, that during the whole movie she had to fake the accent and she doesn't even know how to talk like anymore lol. Check out the interview and learn more about Sundy below!

Charisma: How long have you been an actress?

Sundy: I've been acting ever since I was a little girl.

Charisma: Who inspires you and why?

Sundy: My mother, definitely! She is a very virtuous woman! She raised two girls and was an amazing role model. Very confident. I love my mom!

Charisma: What made you join the cast of Basketball Wives LA?

Sundy: Well, actually I was already somewhat affiliated because I have a six year old by an NBA player and not only that I'm really great friends with Jackie Christie. I also didn't like the way she was being treated on the show by the other girls which made want to join even more because, I'm a loyal friend and I wanted to be in her corner.

Charisma: When you aren't working, what do you do in your spare time?

Sundy: When I'm not working, I like to chill and relax! I'm such a homebody. I like to hang with family and I must admit that I'm a gym rat. I love working out.

Charisma: Who is your favorite entertainer?

Sundy: I really like Denzel and I love me some Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington).

Charisma: What advice do you have for young teens/women trying to accomplish their dreams?

Sundy: Never compromise or take no for an answer! Perfect your craft and stay true to who you are as a person.

Charisma: Ok last question. Do you have a celebrity crush and if so, who?

Sundy: Omari Hardwick.

Charisma: Ohhhhhh. I watch Being Mary Jane every Tuesday. He is so fine!

Interview with Doughboyz Cashout!

A couple days ago I got a chance to interview one of the most popular rap groups from Detroit, Michigan, Doughboyz Cashout! Although, I didn't get a chance to speak with the entire group I was able to chit chat with HBK, Roc and Quis.

 

Charisma: Who or what inspires you?

 

DBCO: We're inspired by legendary Detroit artist like the Streetlordz and Rock Bottom.

 

Charisma: Okay. When did you realize you had a passion for music?

 

DBCO: Everything pretty much started back in high school. So like back in 2005.

 

Charisma: If given the opportunity, which artist would you really like to work with?

 

DBCO: Definitely Boosie! Jay-Z too. We can really relate to both of them.

 

Charisma: What were your emotions once you found out you were going to be signed to Young Jeezy's record label CTE?

 

DBCO: Umm, we were excited but honestly we really inked that deal for the city. Before we got our deal we were already making $7,000 a show.

 

Charisma: What's your all time favorite Doughbyz Cashout song?

 

DBCO: We don't really have one. We love them all!

 

Charisma: What do you like to do in your spare time?

 

DBCO: Family time!

 

Charisma: Okay, this is my last question. What advice do you have for young children/teens especially males trying to sccoplish their dreams?

 

DBCO: Stay focused and stick with your dream and remember that doing something illegal is not the only way to make money.

Interview with DJBJ 3525

Today I had the pleasure of interviewing one of Detroit's most popular disk jockeys, DJ BJ also known as Mr. 3525!

Charisma: Who is your inspiration and why?

DJ BJ: My family! Mainly, my brother. He really inspires me to be better. Another thing that really inspire me is the area we came from.

Charisma: What is your biggest goal/dream?

DJ BJ: I want to accomplish a lot in my life but my main goal is to own my own radio station. I would like to have something online and also on xm radio.

Charisma: When did you realize you had a passion for music?

DJ BJ: My father actually use to own his own record store and he would always show me classic album covers. However, growing up I could never sing or rap but I still loved music so being a dj came naturally. I'm a very hands on person!

Charisma: Are you working on any music projects as of now?

DJ BJ: Yes! I'm actually working on my first album which will be titled either "3525 The Album or 2K14". I like 2K14 because I feel like it's going to be a really good year. I've already released over 160 mixtapes so I'm very confident about this album.

Charisma: How long have you been a dj?

DJ BJ: I actually started at the age of seventeen but I didn't begin to take it serious until I was twenty years old so that means I've been doing it professionally for about five years now!

Charisma: What do you like to do in your spare time?

DJ BJ: I'm a major studio junkie. I love being in the studio! I could just grab some food and chill in the studio all day. Other than that I like to relax! Honestly, there's no such thing as spare time because it's always something that needs to be done.

Charisma: What artist would you like to work with and why?

DJ BJ: I would like to work with the legendary females such as Foxy Brown and Lil Kim. Hov, of course. Rich Homie Quan. If given the chance I would really like to work with DJ Drama because he's a major inspiration and he switched the whole game as a dj.

Charisma: What advice do you have for young children/teens especially young men trying to accomplish their dreams?

DJ BJ: My advice is to stay motivated and try to motivate others. There's no better feeling than knowing you helped motivate someone to pursue something they've always wanted to do.

Charisma: Okay, last question. If you could help out the world in one way what would you do?

DJ BJ: If I could help out the world I would end racism because it still exist whether people believe it or not. I would like to be the voice of the youth and have to opportunity to educate.

Interview with Professional Make-Up Artist Uno!

 

Last month I was introduced to the lovely Eguono M. Ponius also known as "Uno". I met Uno at the 2013 Posh Amore Fashion Show where I participated as a model. I was so impressed with Uno's creativity with make-up and skin care that I had to ask her could I interview her for my blog!

Charisma: How long have you been a make-up artist?

 

Uno: I've been a make-up artist for eight years now.

 

Charisma: What's your favorite skin care line?

 

Uno: My favorite skin care line is Cetaphyl.

 

Charisma: What's your favorite make-up line?

 

Uno: My favorite make-up line is MAC and Urban Decay.

 

Charisma: Who is your favorite make-up artist?

 

Uno: My favorite make-up artist is Alexandra Butler. She's amazing!!!!

 

Charisma: If presented the opportunity to be a celebrity make-up artist, who would you make your primary client and why?

 

Uno: My primary clientele would be Queen Latifah and Jill Scott. The reason why is because they both are beautiful, have amazing features to work on and they both seem to be so humble.

 

Charisma: What advice do you have for future make-up artist trying to break into the industry?

 

Uno: The advice I have for future make-up artist trying to break into the industry is to first and foremost ALWAYS remain humble and treat people good. Be professional and have a good attitude, that is sooooo important. Always be willing to learn because make-up is trendy, everyone wants to be an artist. Study local artists and youtube videos are a great tool also!!!

Interview With Rapper K Quan!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to interview K Quan, who happens to be a up and coming rap artist from Detroit, Michigan. Not only is K Quan a very good friend of mine, he's also a member of the Detroit based rap group Young Rich Boyz also known as YRB or 972. The group has been on a non-stop grind with writing and recording music, shooting videos, working on a clothing line and list of other exciting events. However, as the group prepares to finalize their second mixtape project New Shipment 2, K Quan will be venturing off as a solo artist. 

Charisma: When did you realize you had a passion for music?

K Quan: I realized I had a passion for music around the age of eight years old. As kids, my cousin Vernell and I would sit around and write raps then recite them to each other.

Charisma: What artist would you really like to work with and why?

K Quan: Chrisette Michelle! I feel our styles would mix well.

Charisma: If you had to pick one influential music artist who would you choose?

K Quan: Nas, I see a lot of him in myself.

Charisma: If given the opportunity to choose which record label you could sign with, which would you chose and why?

K Quan: I would  choose Def Jam for many reasons but mainly because of the history and I really admire the work ethic of Russell Simmons.

Charisma: Once you make it big, if you could help out the world in one way what would you do?

K Quan: I would definitely give back to my city and neighborhood. That's at the top of my priority list!
